Three reasons to book an early morning family photo shoot

I met the Boatman family at 7:30am on Polzeath beach in North Cornwall to capture some timeless memories of their holiday. I think these images explain for themselves why an early morning family session is best, but if you scroll half way you will find three reasons why you should book an early morning session.

Three reasons to book an early morning family photo shoot:

1. Early mornings have the most beautiful light.

If you ask any photographer what their favourite time to shoot is, they will most likely answer with "golden hour." This is either an hour before sunset, or an hour after sunrise. Golden hour creates soft, warm light and lovely, long atmospheric shadows.

2. Quiet beaches!

If you have have ever been to Cornwall you will know how busy the beaches can get, sometimes the car parks will be full by 9am! When you arrive at the beach for 7:30am there might be the odd person having an early morning swim but generally the beaches are very quiet and peaceful.

3. Not interrupting your child's routine.

I like to schedule location sessions either early morning or around an hour before sunset. During the summer months sunsets can be quite late which can mean starting a session as late as 8pm. Most little ones will be in bed at this time, and it can be hard to keep your little one happy when it is past their bed time. Of course it is totally worth it to break your little ones routine for one night, but if they are an early riser then scheduling your session for an early morning means you don't need to interrupt your routine!
