A guide to booking your location family photo shoot - Cornwall family photographer

Updated: Apr 24

Your family photo shoot is all about YOU. No single photo shoot is the same, family photos that capture emotions, feelings, and memories is what I am all about. I think of every family photo shoot as a collaboration between you and I, it is important that I know exactly what you want out of your session. Here is a step by step guide to capturing your family story:

1. When to book As soon as you are ready! My diary opens 6 months in advance for family photo shoots. If you are holidaying in Cornwall, I recommend booking before your holiday starts, especially as the weather can be a big factor with booking your session. I like to have the flexibility to move dates, in case the weather is bad. 2. Choosing a time and date Photographing outdoors we are majorly directed by the light. My favourite time to schedule sessions is during "golden hour", which means an hour before sunset or an hour after sunrise. During summer this can mean starting your family photo shoot quite late. However I understand that when you have little ones starting a photo shoot at golden hour is not always possible; therefore I recommend starting at the earliest or latest time possible. I will always avoid scheduling a session between 11-4pm during the summer. 3. Location What I love most about being a Cornwall family photographer, is the fact that we are blessed with so many beautiful locations! When booking a location photo shoot, the first thing you will be asked is, where do you want to go? I want all my sessions to be personal and meaningful to you, which is why it is important that you choose your location! I believe there is not a bad or wrong location for a photo shoot in Cornwall. Typically, the most popular place I photograph at is a beach, but I also love photo shoots at the woods, your own garden, or even a vineyard!

I love nothing more than exploring new places! 4. What to wear

Once you have booked your family photo shoot you will receive a what to wear guide to help create your perfect photos. I really believe that what you wear can make or break your images, so it is important to read this when preparing for your session.

5. Investment

I believe that your images really come to life when they are proudly displayed on your walls, as a constant reminder of all the happy memories you have created together. All my digital packages include prints, technology can't always be trusted. How would you feel if your laptop/computer/phone/tablet broke, and you lost all your photos? I also offer lots of different wall art, including canvases, acrylics, and the most popular - multi aperture frames! Before your family photo shoot, you will be asked what you are interested in purchasing. Have a think about where you want to put these photos, what colour is the room where you want to display these images? What do you want out of your session? Family photos are a lifelong investment, it is one of the only things that will become more valuable over time. You deserve to have timeless. priceless photographs with your loved ones. The best story to tell is your own story!
